I'm doing another cross-stitch update. I really wanted to do them one at a time, and not in batches, but that just wasn't working out during exam week. Which is strange, seeing as I made an awful lot of time to do the sewing during this week. I will TRY and get to one a day. Then it would just be two pictures per post, most likely, and a lot less to read.

So here is the final verdict for fall semester 2009. Or at least as final as it gets before definitive grades are posted online in a week or whenever.

I had As in all of my classes pre-final exam. Except maybe creative writing; I have no idea what I had in creative writing since I had two major assignments which hadn't been graded yet. Now exams.

Psychology was on Tuesday at 10:15am. I finished a little before 11am and was the first person to turn in the test. And it felt like I did pretty well. It probably helped that I crammed for nearly two hours during the block before the test. It's really sad that studying like that is often enough for me.

Now we have a funny little quandary. In Nutrition, when my professor gave us our study guide, it said that the exam was on Thursday (today) at 2:45pm. Then a couple days later she told us it was still today, but instead at 12:15pm. And THEN I check the college website, which seems to think that it is TUESDAY at 2:45pm. I find this out AFTER Tuesday at 2:45pm has passed. So I was stressing out over maybe having missed an exam completely more so than over particular exam content.

Then Sociology. That was this morning at 8am, and I made father drive me, because otherwise I would have had to wake up by 5:30am and leave within like... Fifteen minutes. Noooot happening. I got here around 7am, so I had an hour to cram, but that was REALLY failing because I wanted to look over the powerpoints, and the internet was being soooo sloooow on my laptop. I couldn't even go up to the computer lab if I wanted to, because it doesn't open until 8:30am. Found that out the hard way one semester. Basically, not that much studying happened, although I did look a few things up in the book. And it felt like I did pretty awesome. I'm not positive about every answer, and I'm a little bit worried about that essay, but I didn't get stressed or anything and got it DONE pretty quick. Like an hour for a two hour test.

Finally Nutrition. So I was trying to cram for that too. And the school internet plus my laptop was not really cutting it. And I was looking over the study guide, and I thought I knew most of that shit. ...Apparently not. At least when I got to the room, the professor was actually there. ANYTHING is better than a zero on a fucking final exam.

I think my problem is this. Psychology and Sociology, my professors write multiple choice questions that require you to think. It's recognition more than straight recall. If you've read the material and attended the lecture, and you understood most everything, the questions will just make sense and you can answer them correctly. Nutrition is different. I don't think ANY of us really understand everything we were supposedly taught. So it turns into pretty much straight memorization. And the questions are designed like that; they want you to spit forth some value you memorized. And I suck so hard at that. I need to UNDERSTAND something, because my brain is not cut out for memorizing and retaining vast quantities of (random seeming) data. I understand parts of it, don't get me wrong, but the test is just NOT designed to work with that. To compound that, my professor LOVES having an answer for A, an answer for B, and an answer for C... As well as D being "A and B" and E being "B and C." Those questions BREAK MY FUCKING BRAIN. Usually with multiple choice there are two throwaway answers and then two answers that both look like they could be right. With this, now EVERYTHING looks like it could be right. Fuuuuck.

So yeah, I think I failed that test pretty hard. Or maybe not FAILED, but definitely did badly enough to drop my A to a B. Please not a C. ;____;

We'll see what happens when the grades are in. Need to run and drop off that revision with my professor.
